Natural Gas vs. Gasoline | Pump vs. Home

Does anyone know the price per gasoline gallon equivalent of natural gas when pumped from home service?  The local fuel station sells natural gas at a self-pump, it states the the equivalent is just under $2.00 gallon.  But what about home?  Of course you have to buy a "home service station" a la Honda's Phill.

Has anyone done a conversion?  We are planning to take our gasoline engine on a big old Ford L800, convert it to propane (intake from an old school bus), then convert to natural gas.

According to several articles, I've gathered that it costs around 60 cents per gge to refuel at home, but about $2 per gge if you factor in the cost of the electricity to run the home fueling station.

I'm not sure what area you are in, but in the Southern California area the current public price per GGE is running in the $3.00+ range on average. The Phill unit from Fuelmaker is about $4,000.00 + installation costs which are in the $1,500.00 - $2,000.00 area. Based on the rate per KW and a discounted per therm rate from the gas company it works out to about $1.25 per GGE. Phill's output is 0.4 GGE, or about 2.5 hours per GGE. To be leagal in California a conversion must meet CARB approval. There are several shops that can do that work. Installing a conversion system is not something that is a DIY project. High pressure gas systems take special training and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

Besides the Honda Civic Gx you can get Ford products via BAF Technologies in Dallas, TX. depending on where you are located you may be able to purchase through your local Ford dealer. 

According to http://www.msnbc.msn.co, gasoline for July delivery fell by 10.5 cents, more than 5 percent, to settle at $1.9244 a gallon while natural gas for July delivery lost 6.1 cents to settle at $4.032 per 1,000 cubic feet.

To be more economical, maybe using natural gas and gasoline in alternate ways is a great idea especially to BMW cars (bmw accessories).

It would be helpful if you could qualify what you are looking to accomplish. What area of the country are you in and are you looking at passenger cars or trucks too?
