not sure about the $8,49 but the Volt can go 40miles on a single charge then it'll use gasoline to power the battery so you can go further (I think the lastest estimate is about 300 miles)

Agree with eveything you say regarding comparisons between hydrogen and natural gas, but the issue remains that energy companies have too much invested in fossil fuel. I know it's been proposed but until "someone", whether it's the government or private industry actually implements the proposals and solve the "chicken or the egg"

The problem is natural gas availability. Until the government/private industry invest the hundreds of billions of dollars needed to cover the U.S. with natural gas filling stations, the cars will never take off

Definitely the Volt. Each car should be evaluated on its own merits (I know some people will disagree vehemently) but there is something to be said about buying a domestic car, I really hate to see GM go into oblivion. By the way, will there be any new power plants built, if not I'm not sure our current infrastructure will support what I hope to
