  • Re: Natural gas car tops 'greenest' list

Karen ... I hope you do not heat your home or business with Nat Gas !!! The current price is nearly triple what it was in the late 1990's already. Traditional sources (Canada) are in decline and while "shale gas" deposits are coming on line in the U.S. the cost of recovery is astounding. In 2008 the U.S. imported over 20% of nat gas usage

  • Re: Chevy Volt vs. Prius Plug-in: Which are you more excited for?

G.M. could be bankrupt in days and the "dolt" will never see the market. Neither the Prius or the "dolt" will be around long if America gets its act togeather and builds the hydrogen infrastructure. Lutz himself said the only reason G.M. has put its eggs in the electric basket is because America will not get werious about building

  • Re: Electric Car Highs and Lows: What's your opinion?

And the electricity generated comes from what source? Further, sending electricity down the "grid," which is already antiquated and overtaxed, is possibly the most inefficient use of power with the loss of nearly 12% in transmission. Electric vehicles will amount to less than 3% of total by 2020 and is no answer to getting off oil period.

And more imported nat gas to generate the electricity to run the electric cars. Not exactly a move toward energy independence.

Neither vehicle offers any solution to the oil import problem. The "dolt" has a non oil based fuel range of of 40 miles and requires the use of the highly inefficient grid (up to 12% loss of energy in transmission) and the not ready for prime time Lithium batteries. Once that range is exhausted the battery is recharged using fossil based fuel

  • Re: 17 electric cars...

There is NOTHING noteworthy about electric cars unless they are powered by a fuel cell. They do abswolutely nothing to slow the import of fossil fuels. Electricity is currently generated by 25% imports of nat gas. Increasing demand for electricity can only make that % higher. So we burn less oil and burn more nat gas whoooopeeee!

  • Re: Diesel or hybrid?

If (IF) this great nation gets smart and desperate enough in ten years there won't by either a hybrid (gas or diesel + electric) or a pure diesel vehicle on the road. Hybrids are only a way to stretch oil and diesel is oil. Plug-ins will only increase the 20% of nat gas we already import. The hydrogen economy is coming and is the only true viable

  • Re: Hybrid Car Highs and Lows: What's your opinion?

Americans and I want a vehicle they can get in and drive anywhere anytime without having to worry about finding a particular type of fuel or how long they have to wait to recharge. They would prefer the fuel to be pollution free and domestically produced so money doesn't make third world dictatorship and shiekdoms more influential than they should

  • Re: Global Warming: Which side are you on?

The evidence for both a natural fluctuation and human contribution are both valid. That being the case there is no reason why humanity should continue to enhance the reality that the earth is warming. I think the notion that man should live "lightly" on the planet doing as little as possible to pave it over has been lost in greed and a notion
